The Alois K is a remembrance to Alois Kiefer former Celler Master and Grandfather of Philip Kiefer who runs the cellar now. The wine stayed after fermentation in the traditional 1200 Ltr. wooden barrel of this region (Stückfass) where also malolactic fermentation took place. The grapes grew an a sand loess loam ground which doesn't disturb the nose with minerality. So the flavours of cassis, blackberries, black cherries, vanilla, pepper and mint are not compromised. It has a fair amount of tannins and is a powerful wine that is best accompanied by a good steak or roast.
