The Korrell winery is located in the heart of the Nahe region near Bad Kreuznach, climatically favoured between the River Nahe and Rheinhessen.
The Korrell family and the estate have their origins in Spain. Both take the lion as their symbol, reflecting a family coat of arms bestowed in that nation in 1483. Even today it continues to grace the striking labels and capsules of the estate’s wines. The Korrell family came to the Nahe as part of the Huguenot migration, with an interim stop in France. It has been involved in winegrowing in Bosenheim since 1832. Martin Korrell represents the sixth generation of the family to helm the estate, and his uncompromising dedication to quality has positioned it among the region’s finest.
Martin Korrell feels strong ties to his vineyards. His outstanding terroir demands nothing less than pure manual labor. Close attention must be lavished on each individual site, variety and microclimate. A selective, multi-pass hand harvest caps off each labor-intensive growing cycle. During harvest, each berry undergoes rigorous selection to ensure that only perfectly ripe and healthy grapes are put to the press. A gentle crush is followed by a slow and controlled fermentation. Martin Korrell tastes the young wines frequently, shepherding them meticulously through their development. He focuses unwaveringly on top quality and perfect balance. In recent years, a second focus has taken hold: a start-to-finish transition to EU-certified organic winegrowing. The application was already submitted in August 2020. The estate has in fact long focused on sustainable agriculture, reflecting its deep conviction and sense of responsibility to the coming generations. EU organic certification is just the next logical step in this tireless effort.
